As the recipient of Staff Senate's holiday fundraiser, guest speaker, Ben McKee, from CASA, will speak about their mission and the opportunities available to be a volunteer or advocate.
As part of the community
engagement initiative, Staff Senate voted on CASA as the recipient for the 2019
event. Funds will be used for training advocates and furthering CASA’s cause
and efforts. CASA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for
a safe and permanent home for abused and neglected children in Yellowstone
County. This is done through the work of volunteer Court Appointed Special
Advocates, which represent a child or group of siblings in foster care and
speak up for the children’s best interests.
Give
a child a voice by becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and
neglected children in the foster care system. Given the crisis of rising
child abuse and neglect cases statewide, there has never been a greater need
for our Advocates. CASA of Yellowstone County serves hundreds of children from
low-to-moderate income families in local communities, ensuring that these
children have better outcomes both in the short term and in their lives after
foster care.
