Summary:
Each of us conduct discussions in our classes to engage
students and foster learning. Are there aspects of your class discussions,
however, that might need a little something? Do you have an engagement strategy
or two that have proven successful? If you are interested in learning from your
peers and sharing your experiences (good and bad), join us for this
conversation on best practice class discussion strategies with an eye toward:
1) effective facilitation; 2) informal/formal assessment of learning; and 3)
student accountability.
Learning Objectives:
Faculty participating in this workshop will be primed and
motivated to:
impart proven engagement strategies to
colleagues;
devise innovative discussions strategies that
effectively engage students; and d
evelop measurable strategies that informally
(formative) and formally (summative) assess student learning.
