Keeping Our Campus Safe: Prescription Medication Misuse and Safe Disposal

 The misuse and abuse of prescription medications continue to affect communities across the nation, causing devastating health and economic impacts. In Montana, drug poisonings are the third leading cause of injury deaths, after motor vehicle accidents and suicides (Montana DPHHS). Join MSUB Student Health Services for a lunch and learn addressing prescription drug abuse prevention and safe disposal. Guest speakers at the lunch and learn include Sara Mahoney, a Wellness Specialist with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, and Malcolm Horn, Director of Special Services at the Rimrock Foundation. This lunch and learn will cover the current landscape of prescription drug abuse in Billings, safe disposal of prescription medications, and what faculty and staff can do to help support current prevention efforts. Deterra Safe Medication Disposal Bags will be available to all who attend, and all who attend will be entered into a drawing to win a gift cards to a local restaurants!
