The MSU Billings
Department of History is pleased to announce an original student research
presentation in conjunction with Women’s History Month. Led by faculty member,
Dr. Emily Arendt, “Personal and
Political: Women’s History in Montana and Beyond,” will feature three talks by
MSUB history majors interested in gender history in regional and national perspectives
on Wednesday, March 25 from 3 – 4:30 in LA 205. Tracey Miller will be exploring
the emergence of the women’s rights movement on the national scale in the 1800s
and considering how women’s involvement in politics opened the door to gender
equality on a larger scale. Thinking beyond partisan politics, James
Ellis will be discussing the various forms of activism engaged in by women in
Butte, Montana at the turn of the century. Recognizing that individual
women are as important in the history of America as large-scale social
movements. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please
